Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Text recognition runs entirely in your browser, so your images never leave your device. Only the language model (about 0.4–3 MB per language) is downloaded once and then cached for next time.
Which languages can it read?
Arabic, English, French, Spanish, German, Turkish, Urdu, Persian, Hindi, Chinese (Simplified), Russian, Portuguese, Italian and Indonesian. For mixed text, select up to 4 languages at once.
How accurate is the text recognition?
It works best on clear printed text: sharp, well-lit, straight photos or scans. Handwriting, decorative fonts and very small text are less accurate, so review the result — you can edit it right on the page.
Is there a limit on images?
There is no daily limit. You can process up to 50 images at once, up to 250 MB each, in JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP or AVIF.
Can I extract text from a scanned PDF?
Yes — use the OCR PDF tool. It reads every page of a scanned PDF and can also create a searchable PDF.
