Frequently asked questions
Why is the extracted text empty?
Your PDF is probably a scan or a photo, so its pages contain images instead of text. Use the OCR PDF tool to recognise the text first.
Does it work with Arabic text?
Yes. The TXT file is saved as UTF-8 with a BOM, so Arabic and other languages display correctly, even in Windows Notepad.
Is the layout preserved?
Line breaks are kept, but fonts, columns and tables become plain text. For an editable document with formatting, PDF to Word is coming soon.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The text is extracted by your browser on your own device, so the PDF is never sent to a server.
Can I extract text from a password-protected PDF?
Yes. Enter the password when asked; it is only used in your browser to open the file.
