Frequently asked questions
What kind of damage can be repaired?
Broken or missing cross-reference tables, files cut short by an interrupted download, damaged page trees and invalid objects. Pages whose content is actually missing from the file cannot be brought back.
What is “Rebuild from page images”?
A last-resort rescue: every page our viewer engine can still display is rendered and saved as an image in a new PDF. It looks the same, but the text is no longer selectable.
Is my file uploaded for repair?
No. Repair runs entirely in your browser, which also means confidential documents never leave your device.
Can I repair a password-protected PDF?
Yes, if you know the password: unlock it first with Unlock PDF, then repair the unlocked copy.
Will my original file be changed?
Never. Repair always works on a copy and gives you a new file to download.
