Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to scan QR codes here?
Yes. Images and camera frames are decoded inside your browser and never uploaded. Links never open automatically: you see the full address first, with a warning when something looks suspicious.
Can it read barcodes as well?
In browsers with the built-in Barcode Detection API (such as Chrome on Android, macOS and ChromeOS) it also reads EAN, UPC, Code 128 and more. Everywhere else it reads QR codes.
Why doesn’t my camera start?
Allow camera access when your browser asks. The camera only works on secure (https) pages and can be blocked while another app is using it.
What if no code is found?
Crop closer to the code, make sure it is sharp and well lit, and avoid glare. Screenshots of codes usually work best.
Where is my scan history stored?
Only in this browser on your device. You can switch history off or clear it at any time.
